Privacy Policy
Last updated August 31, 2026
This policy describes how Sails collects, uses, and shares information when you use https://sails.app, the Sails workspace, published sites, and related services.
Sails is operated by Ryan Allred in Lehi, Utah. Questions: ryan@sails.app or https://sails.app/contact.
What Sails is
Sails is a set of tools for your AI assistant. It shares a workspace with your team: save files, send email, put a website up, write custom software, and take jobs from Slack or email. You connect it from ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or another client you authorize.
Sails is not a language model. Prompts you type in ChatGPT, Claude, or another assistant are handled by that provider under their terms. We store what lands in your workspace, and we run the tools you turn on.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account or subscribe, we collect your name, email address, and plan details. If you pay, our payment processor collects billing details. We keep the records we need to charge you, issue invoices, and support the account.
Workspace content
We store the files, folders, mail, databases, published pages, logs, jobs, secrets metadata, and other content you or your AI assistant create in the workspace. That content belongs to you or your organization.
Connected tools
If you connect another service (mail, Slack, MCP, or a similar tool), we store the connection settings, tokens, and permissions needed to make that connection work. Passwords are not stored in project files. Secret values are stored so a job can use them; the model does not see the plaintext.
Usage and device information
We collect how the product is used: pages and features used, actions, errors, browser and device information, approximate location from IP address, and timestamps. We use this to operate, debug, and keep the service secure.
Communications
If you email us, use the contact form, or write for support, we keep those messages and the contact details you give us.
Cookies and similar storage
The marketing site stores a theme preference in the browser so the page can follow light or dark mode.
Published sites set a sails_vid cookie to count unique visitors. Analytics on a published site are totals: page views and unique-cookie counts. The analytics command does not return visitor ids.
We use session cookies to keep you signed in.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve Sails
- Create and maintain your account and workspaces
- Save files, mail, jobs, databases, and published sites
- Run connections you approve
- Process payments and manage subscriptions
- Answer support, sales, and onboarding requests
- Monitor reliability, debug issues, and prevent abuse
- Send product, security, billing, and administrative messages
- Comply with law
We do not sell your personal information.
How your AI assistant uses the workspace
When you add Sails to an assistant, that assistant may read, create, edit, send, or publish content in your workspace based on your instructions and the permissions you grant. You are responsible for that content.
We do not claim ownership of your workspace content.
Sharing information
We share information with:
- Vendors who host, operate, secure, bill, or support Sails, only as needed to do that work
- Services you connect and authorize
- People and other agents on your account, according to your settings
- Authorities when the law requires it, or when needed to protect Sails, users, or the public
- A successor if Sails is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets
Published content
If you publish a page, site, form, tool, or other output, that content is visible to anyone with the link, subject to the publish settings on that project. Do not publish private or confidential information unless you intend to share it.
Data retention
We keep account and workspace data while the account is active and as long as we need it to provide Sails, meet legal duties, resolve disputes, and keep records of billing and security.
Email ryan@sails.app to request deletion of your account or workspace content. Some information may remain in backups, logs, billing records, or legal records for a limited period.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for your account credentials and for reviewing what your AI assistant creates, changes, connects, or publishes.
Your choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict use of certain personal information. You may opt out of nonessential marketing mail.
To make a request, email ryan@sails.app or use https://sails.app/contact.
Children
Sails is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date above will change when we do. If a change is material, we may also send notice to the account email.
